Hands and fingers are commonly added to an arm course and are usually treated in the same appointment rather than billed as a separate area. They are worth mentioning at assessment, because hair on the fingers is often finer than on the forearm and may not respond as completely.
The sun problem, and why it matters more on arms
In Chennai, forearms are exposed almost every day of the year. That matters because laser distinguishes the melanin in your hair from the melanin in your skin, and a tan narrows the gap between the two.
The practical consequences are: settings on tanned forearms are chosen more conservatively than they would be on skin that never sees the sun, a fresh tan or sunburn means the session is deferred rather than pushed through, and sunscreen on the forearms between sessions genuinely changes your result rather than being generic advice.
This is also why a course started in the cooler months often runs more smoothly than one started in April.
What to expect through the course
Density drops visibly from around the second or third session, and what regrows comes back finer and slower each time. Six to eight sessions is the usual range for a substantial, lasting reduction, with a maintenance session once or twice a year afterwards.
Do not wax, thread or pluck between sessions — all three remove the follicle the laser needs. Shave instead. And keep the interval: sessions booked closer together than four weeks treat follicles that are still resting and achieve very little.
