The questions to ask, the photos to bring, and the red flags to watch for.
The consultation is the most important appointment in aesthetic medicine — and the one people prepare for least. Here’s how to get the most out of yours, whether it’s with us or anyone else.
What to bring, and what to ask
Bring a short list of what actually bothers you, in your own words — “I look tired even when I’m not” is more useful than a treatment name. Photos of yourself from three to five years ago help us understand your face’s baseline. And bring your current skincare, or a photo of it; half of all plans start with fixing the routine.
Then ask the questions that reveal a clinic’s character: Who performs the treatment — a doctor or a technician? What happens if I do nothing? What are the risks for my skin tone specifically? What will this cost over a year, not just today?
“A good consultation should feel like a diagnosis, not a sales pitch. If you feel pressure, that’s your answer.”
Red flags worth walking away from
Menu-first conversations that start with what’s on offer rather than what you need. Discounts that expire today. Vague answers about who holds the needle. Any reluctance to say “no” or “not yet” — the willingness to turn away revenue is the single most reliable sign you can trust the advice.
At Rêve the consultation is complimentary and physician-led, and it ends with a written plan you can take home and think about. No deposit, no countdown timer, no obligation.
